WHAT IS EKVE?

As part of missing link for KLORR, the proposed East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE) starts from Sg Long at SILK Highway (in the south) and terminates at Ukay Perdana (in the north). See Figure 1 below :-

The EKVE spans approximately 39 km (24km mainline and 15 km spur roads) and is a dual carriageway, two (2) lanes in each direction and expandable to three (3) lanes. A closed toll system and designed to accommodate five (5) toll plazas at each of the planned five interchanges along the entire expressway. The five interchanges are :-

The schematic alignment and location of toll plaza are shown in Figure 2;

Planned to be completed in 2018, the EKVE will act as an alternative route to the already congested MRRII by providing bypasses for north-south bound traffic and vice versa, without at all entering KL City Centre and reducing the traffic congestion in KL City Centre.

Construction of EKVE began on 10 September 2015 and planned to be completed in 2018, however, an extension of the completion time period has been granted until 15 July 2022 due to process design changes, surrender of land and acquisition of privately owned land.
